Lady Rams Win GCAC Tournament
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team topped Spring Hill College at the Azalea City Golf Course to win the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday.
Mobile carded a 44-over 332 on the final day to finish at 92-over 668 for the tournament, while the Lady Badgers shot a final-round +53 341 to finish at 109-over 685 for the tournament.
Mobile's Erika Lundberg was the top individual performer with an 8-over 152 (75, 77). Teammate Maegan Rice came in 2nd with a 12-over 156 (78, 78). Abby Harris carded a 171 (86, 85), Taylor Lee shot a 189 (97, 92), Mandy Eads shot a 212 (111, 101) and Cori Byrd carded a 217 (112, 105).
For Spring Hill, Meredith Haro and Annmarie Coan shot a pair of 83's to lead the way. Victoria Gonzalez finished at +14 86, Shea Bowers carded a 17-over 89, Jasmine Bowers finished with a 96, Kara Broderick shot a 103 and Anna Beykirch finished at 107.
Mobile will play in a NAIA National Tournament Qualifier April 27-28 at the Old Hickory Country Club in Nashville, TN.
Day One: Mobile Leads Lady Badgers By 8 Strokes
MOBILE, Ala— The University of Mobile women's golf team leads Spring Hill by eight strokes after round one of the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at the Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, AL.
Spring Hill carded a 56-over par 344, while the Lady Rams shot a +48 336.
Mobile’s Erika Lundberg paced the field on day one with a 3-over 75, while teammate and two-time NAIA All-American Maegan Rice shot 6-over 78. Abby Harris finished at 86, Taylor Lee shot a 97, Mandy Eads shot a 111, and Cory Byrd carded a 112.
Spring Hill was led by a pair of +11 83’s from Meredith Haro and Victoria Gonzalez. Shea Bowers fired a 14-over 86 and Annmarie Coan shot a 92. Anna Beykirch finished at 102, Jasmine Bowers shot a 92 and Kara Broderick finished with a 104 to round out Spring Hill’s performers.
The final round will begin at 1:15 Thursday at Azalea City. |
