Lady Rams Finish Tournament In 4th
OLD HICKORY, Tenn—The 20th-ranked University of Mobile women’s golf team finished in 4th place at the NAIA Independent Championships at Old Hickory Country Club Tuesday.
Third-ranked Bethel College won the tournament with a 45-over 621 to earn the automatic bid to the 2009 NAIA National Championship May 12-15 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Marian College came in 2nd with a 94-over 670 and St. Francis carded a 100-over 676 to place 3rd.
The Lady Rams carded a 115-over 691 to finish 4th in the field. Freshman Erika Lundberg finished 4th individually after firing a 10-over 154 (75, 79), while Maegan Rice finished at 16-over 160 (80, 80) to place 6th. Both Lundberg and Rice were named to the All-Tournament Team and All-Conference.
At-large bids for teams and individuals to the National Championship will be decided Friday.
Round 1: Lady Rams In 4th After Day One
OLD HICKORY, Tenn-- The University of Mobile women's golf team is in 4th place after round one of the NAIA Independent Championships at the Old Hickory Country Club Monday.
Mobile is 4th out of six teams, and the top team and top individual get an automatic bid to the 2009 NAIA National Championship May 12-15 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The Lady Rams carded an opening round 56-over 344, while Bethel College leads the pack with a 29-over 317. Marion shot a 337 and St. Francis carded an opening-round 338.
Lady Ram freshman Erika Lundberg is tied for 1st individually after firing a 3-over 75. Teammate Maegan Rice shot an 8-over 80, Taylor Lee finished at 19-over 91, and Mandy Eads and Abby Harris both carded 26-over 98's to round out Mobile's scores.
The tournament will finish up with a final round Tuesday. Mobile earned a spot in the tournament by winning the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament April 15-16.
