Mobile Women Finish 18th At National Championships SAN DIEGO, Calif—The 13th-ranked University of Mobile women’s golf team finished the 2008 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships with an 18th-place finish after the fourth and final round concluded Friday. Maegan Rice paced the Lady Rams on the final day by firing an 81 to finish with a four-round total of 328 (79, 82, 86, 81). Meghan Dove, who shot a team-best 73 in round two, shot an 89 on the final day to finish with a 333 (84, 73, 87, 89) at the tournament. Carlie Bloomer carded an 88 to finish with a 357 (91, 90, 88, 88) and Lindsey Miller collected a 90 on day four to finish with a 357 (95, 87, 85, 90). Lindsey Miller rounded out the Mobile golfers with a 99. Mobile has been to the elite field all 15 years of competition now, winning the National Title in 1998. Round 3: Lindsey Miller Paces Mobile With an 85 SAN DIEGO, Calif—The University of Mobile women’s golf team moved up another spot at the 2008 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships, moving up to 17th after shooting a round-three score of 346. Lindsey Miller became the third different golfer in three days to pace Mobile, leading the Lady Rams with an 85. Maegan Rice fired an 86, Meghan Dove shot an 87 and Carlie Bloomer finished with an 88. The fourth and final round of the championship will take place Friday. Round 2: Meghan Dove Fires a 73 SAN DIEGO, Calif—The University of Mobile women’s golf team was 17 strokes better in round 2 at the 2008 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships, than they were in round one, and Mobile moved up one spot to 18th place. The Lady Rams used a tournament-best round of 73 from Meghan Dove to move up in the standings. Dove’s 73 equaled the best shot total of either round thus far in the tournament and places her at 14th among individual golfers. Maegan Rice shot a 10-over 82 for the Lady Rams, Carlie Bloomer fired a 90, Lindsey Miller improved her total to 87, and Taylor Lee rounded out the Mobile golfers with a 103. Mobile is only seven shots behind the 15th overall team, Southern Nazarene. British Columbia fired a 312 in round two to leap into the top spot with two rounds to play at the tournament. Round 1: Lady Rams Shoot a 61-over 349 to place 19th overall SAN DIEGO, Calif—Play is underway at the 2008 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships and the course was tough on the opening day of the four-day tournament, with all teams finishing at least 20-over par. The University of Mobile finished the opening round with a 61-over par 349, which is good for 19th overall and 38 strokes off the pace set by leader Cal State Marcos, which finished with a 311. Maegan Rice is 18th among individuals after firing a 7-over par 79, using a nice rebound on her last nine holes, where she was only 1-over par. Meghan Dove came in at second for Mobile with a 12-over par 84, while Carlie Bloomer carded a 91. Lindsey Miller and Taylor Lee rounded out the Lady Rams’ performers with by shooting 23-over and 29-over, respectively as the Lady Rams compete at their 15th-consecutive National Championship. |
