Lady Ram Honored by NAIA
MOBILE, Ala—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2007 NAIA Women’s Golf All-Americans.
The University of Mobile’s Meagan Rice was among the 15 selections and one of only 4 freshmen on the honorary squad.
The Lady Rams recently finished 11th at the NAIA National Championships, while Rice tied for 9th amongst individual scorers after carding a 312 for the 4-round event. That includes a 74 in the final round, which tied the Florence, Alabama native for the top score in the round.
Aside from the solid play at nationals, the Central High School graduate had 5 other top-10 finishes. The best finish came early in the season, when Rice carded a 2-round score of 154 to finish 1st at the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invite. She also carded two 3rd-place finishes. The first came when she shot a 73 on the final day at the UM Spring Fling, and the second came at the Region XII and XIII Tournament when she finished with a 3-round shot total of 237.
Rice also finished 6th at the SCAD Spring Invitational with a 159 and 10th at the Embry Riddle Bash at the Beach after shooting 151. Rice becomes the 5th University of Mobile women’s golfer to be named 1st Team All-American.
