UM Women's Golf Places 5th At Bubba Watson Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla—The University of Mobile women’s golf team finished its first event of the year in 5th place.

The Lady Rams, competing at the Bubba Watson Invitational, hosted by University of West Florida, were in 2nd place after day 1 after shooting a collective 337, but feel to 5th after firing 342 on the final 18.

The stroke total of 679 placed Mobile 39 behind winner West Florida, and 11 strokes behind 2nd place teams University of Montevallo and Henderson State University.

Maegan Rice rallied from an opening round score of 81, to fire a 77 on the final day to finish 3rd among individuals. Meghan Dove and Hollie Hayes shot 86 and 89, respectively over the final 18 holes to finish 15th and 26th at the tournament. Lindsey Miller shot a 90 in round 2.

Day 1

PENSACOLA, Fla—The University of Mobile women’s golf team finds itself in 2nd place after round 1 of the Bubba Watson Invitational, hosted by the University of West Florida.

The host school has the lead with a total score of 327, while the Lady Rams are 10 strokes back at 337, and 1 stroke ahead of 3rd-place Henderson State University.

Pacing the Lady Rams is reining NAIA 1st-Team All American Maegan Rice, with a 81. Meghan Dove shot a 40 on the back-9 to finish at 83, while Carlie Bloomer and Hollie Hayes rounded out the scoring for Mobile with an 84 and 89, respectively.

Those scores put Rice in a tie for 6th, Dove at 11th, Bloomer in a tie for 12th and Hayes in a tie for 27th.  The tournament, which is Mobile’s first event of the season, will end with Round 2 Tuesday.
