Lady Rams Ink Local Product

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s soccer program announced the signing of Mary G. Montgomery product Courtney Lavender for the 2009 season.

Rams’ Head Coach Brian Person said Lavender projects as a center back or defensive central midfielder at the collegiate level.

“She brings a great work ethic and great attitude,” Person said. “MGM is one of the most developed programs in the city and it’s always good to get one of their players because of their soccer background.”

Lavender echoes Person’s sentiments about what she can bring to the team.

“I want to help the team succeed and push through the season,” Lavender said. “I’ll bring a big heart and I am a huge team player.

The Vikings advanced to the second round of the State Tournament last season when Lavender was a rotating captain. During that season she was also named Most Valuable Midfielder of the Cane Cup Classic.
