Local soccer talent signs with University of Mobile

BAY MINETTE, Ala. -- Surrounded by friends and family, Laura Ruth Langham, a senior from Baldwin County High School signed to play soccer with the University of Mobile Wednesday morning at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette, Ala.

“We are very excited to get a player of her caliber,” University of Mobile women’s head soccer coach Uwe Tittl said at Wednesday morning’s signing.  “She had a few Division I scholarship offers and for her to sign with us locally is very exciting.”

Langham was a four year starter for Baldwin County High School and came close to breaking the state record for goals scored finishing with 143.  Langham is also a Valedictorian candidate and is currently ranked number one in her senior class.

“She is everything a forward needs to be, everything a soccer player needs to be, everything an athlete needs to be,” Baldwin County High School women’s head soccer coach Steve Morisani Jr. said of Langham.  “She has excellent grades, a great attitude and she will be missed.  I know that she will do well at the University of Mobile.”

The Rams finished the 2003 season with an 8-10 overall record.

“With her speed and ability to score, she will make an immediate impact on our team,” Tittl said of Langham.

Soccer players will report in August for fall camp.
