Local soccer talent signs with
University of Mobile
BAY MINETTE, Ala. -- Surrounded
by friends and family, Laura Ruth Langham, a senior from Baldwin County
High School signed to play soccer with the University of Mobile Wednesday
morning at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette, Ala.
“We are very excited to get a
player of her caliber,” University of Mobile women’s head soccer coach Uwe
Tittl said at Wednesday morning’s signing. “She had a few Division I
scholarship offers and for her to sign with us locally is very exciting.”
Langham was a four year starter
for Baldwin County High School and came close to breaking the state record
for goals scored finishing with 143. Langham is also a Valedictorian
candidate and is currently ranked number one in her senior class.
“She is everything a forward
needs to be, everything a soccer player needs to be, everything an athlete
needs to be,” Baldwin County High School women’s head soccer coach Steve
Morisani Jr. said of Langham. “She has excellent grades, a great attitude
and she will be missed. I know that she will do well at the University of
Mobile.”
The Rams finished the 2003
season with an 8-10 overall record.
“With her speed and ability to
score, she will make an immediate impact on our team,” Tittl said of
Langham.
Soccer players will report in
August for fall camp.
