Mobile signs Lindsay Gillis to soccer
scholarship
MOBILE, Ala. -- Lindsay Gillis,
a transfer from Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix, Ariz.,
signed a scholarship to play soccer next season with the University of
Mobile head coach Uwe Tittl announced on Wednesday.
Gillis who played two seasons
at PVCC, scored three goals and recorded seven assists last season as a
starting defender while serving as team captain for the Pumas. Her
freshman year, Gillis finished with one goal and a school record 15
assists, starting in all 19 matches as the team’s center midfielder.
In high school, Gillis was a
four-year varsity letterman and team captain of her junior and senior
teams. Gillis was a First-Team All-Region selection and Honorable Mention
All-State her senior season and was named Grand Canyon MVP, First-Team
All-Region and Second-Team All-State her junior year.
Even as a sophomore, Lindsay
was named “Defender of the Year” and selected as a Second-Team All-Region
player.
Born in Flagstaff, Ariz.,
Gillis was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and
participated in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Adopt a Highway
programs. She also volunteered at The Peaks Adult Center and was a
volunteer soccer coach for a girls U-12 team.
Lindsay is the daughter of
Frank and Marsha Gillis.
