UM Women Win Big
MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s soccer team used a dominant first half of play to start the 2008 season with a 5-0 victory over visiting Texas College.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first 9 minutes of play, but a pair of goals a minute apart changed that. Terri McCreadie provided the game-winner for Mobile with a blast to the back of the net, and Emma Murphy followed by knocking home her own rebound inside the box.
The Lady Rams continued to cruise from there, out-shooting Texas College 20-0 in the opening frame, and 31-1 for the game as Mobile stayed on the attack and a defense featuring 2007 All-Conference performers Anna Maddox, Louise Arseneault and Ashley Hoffman kept the Lady Steers’ at bay.
Following the first two goals, the Lady Rams used some nice passing to notch the rest of the tallies with nice feeds inside the 18-yard box. McCreadie scored her second goal of the game on a feed from Aislinn Finfrock, Cheryl Edgar added a goal on a pass from Arseneault, and senior Lauren Thomson capped the scoring when she knocked home a pass from Edgar.
Mobile (1-0) travels to Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN August 27th for a 5:00 pm ball game. |
