Lady Rams Drop Last-Second Affair

MONTGOMERY, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s soccer team played Auburn Montgomery to a tie for 89:58, but that last second and a half sent the Lady Rams to a hard-fought 1-0 loss.

Continuing to play short-handed and with injuries, the Lady Rams and goalkeeper Susanne Klungtveit kept a constant Senator attack off the scoreboard. Despite being out-shot 13-4 and giving up 7 shots on goal in the first period, the Lady Rams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

From there, the Lady Rams were able to adjust and limit the Lady Senators to only 3 2nd-half shots on goal and 8 shots overall. Mobile itself was able to force the issue more, but could not get a shot to go in.

Then, after that 89:58 of hard-fought, scoreless ball, things broke the Senators’ way. With the clock ticking down, and the Lady Senators trying to force the ball down field for a last-second shot, the Lady Rams got position for a little bit. But, an attempted clear back to the goalie fell short and AUM’s Tschana Wade raced to it and knocked it in off the post.

For the game, the Lady Rams were out-shot 21-9 and fall to 1-7 on the season. After playing  the last 7 games on the road, the Lady Rams return home to host Spring Hill College, Wednesday September 19th at 7:00 pm.
