Lady Rams shut out Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Lady Rams soccer team defeated Spring Hill Wednesday night to move to 2-0 in conference play.

Now at 4-2 on the season, Mobile controlled the game after an early opportunity escaped the Lady Badgers. 4 minutes into the game, Spring Hill crossed the ball into the box, but a sprawling Inga Johannesdottir knocked the ball away from the attacking Badger. The dive left Johannesdottir out of position for the follow-up, but teammates were able to clear the ball. That would be the last real threat for Spring Hill.

From there, Mobile took control, starting with Camilla Hovden's opening goal 8 minutes into the match. Fellow freshman Terri McCreadie found Hovden deep in the box, and Hovden chested the ball down and hit a quick-strike past the Badger goalkeeper.

Hovden finished out the first half scoring with another goal in the 34th minute, when she received a pass from Nicola Sheridan and found the right corner off the diving goalkeeper.

The second half brought fewer chances for the Lady Rams, but senior Kelly Baltieri added the final touch in the 77th minute with a free-kick over the wall and goalkeeper. Mobile out shot the Badgers 16-3 on the match and host Auburn-Montgomery September 21 at The Jungle at 7:00.
