Pair of Mobile volleyball players earn GCAC honors
MOBILE, Ala—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that University of Mobile freshmen Nicole Stokes and Whitney Knight were named GCAC Setter of the Week and GCAC Player of the Week, respectively.
Knight has now won the Player of the Week award two weeks in a row as the Lady Rams continue rolling with a 14-1 mark on the season. On the week, the freshman from Birmingham tallied 46 kills on 102 attacks and had 43 digs and 16 aces.
Stokes is a first time winner for Mobile. The setter finished with 107 assists, 24 digs and 11 aces over the 5-0 stretch. She leads the team by 100, with 329 assists on the season.
The Lady Rams return to action this Thursday at home versus archrival Spring Hill College.
Lady Ram named soccer player of the week
MOBILE, Ala—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that University of Mobile midfielder Kelly Baltieri was named GCAC and Region XIII Player of the Week.
The senior from Brazil turned in a stellar performance, scoring in all three matches over the past week. Baltieri scored 3 goals on the week, including game winners in big victories over #10 AUM and Reinhardt College. She also recorded an assist during the 3-0 run.
The Lady Rams also received good news as a team, as they moved up to #15 in the most recent NAIA Top-25 with a 7-2 record and a 3-0 conference mark.
Baltieri and her teammates will take the field again this Friday at home against Loyola University. Mobile won the first match at Loyola 9-0.
