UM Women's Soccer Rolls At Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss—The University of Mobile women’s soccer team picked up its first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference victory Thursday night, by dominating Belhaven College on the road to the tune of a 4-0 score.

The Lady Rams (2-10, 1-3) made sure Belhaven did not have a chance to strike first, by jumping on the Lady Blazers just 3:20 into play. That’s when Chelsea Bate launched a chip shot into the top corner from 35 yards out to stake the Lady Rams to a 1-0 lead.

Things remained the same until late in the first period, when a substitute stretched the lead to 2-0. Sacha Martin ran into the box and flicked a feed from Anna Maddox out of the air and into the goal at the 6:40 mark.

Mobile again struck quickly in the 2nd frame to ensure momentum would stay on the Lady Rams side. Seven minutes into action, Terri McCreadie took a throw-in from Maddox and danced through the defense, before smashing the ball into the back of the net. While Mobile’s defense held strong, Camilla Hovden finished the scoring, coming up to take a free kick at 15:58 and knocking it low and inside the post.

The Lady Rams will next travel to Spring Hill College Friday, October 5th for a 5:00 pm start time.
