Lady Rams Battle To Scoreless Tie

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s soccer team battled Spring Hill College to a double-overtime 0-0 tie Friday evening at Spring Hill.

The game was a defensive battle throughout, and when either team was able to break through and get a look on goal, the opposing keeper was up to the challenge. Mobile’s Susanne Klungtveit set the defensive tone, when she made a diving save of a free-kick taken just outside the box, at the 27:21 mark of the first half.

In the first half of play, the two teams combined for only 7 shots, 5 on goal. Then, Mobile upped the tempo in the 2nd half and out shot the Lady Badgers 10-4, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

Unfortunately for Mobile, Spring Hill goalkeeper Shannon Netherby was up to the challenge. She finished with 12 saves on the game, including 7 in that 2nd half.

Klungtveit continued to do her job for the Lady Rams, coming up with 4 saves after halftime. The Lady Rams move to 2-10-1 on the season, with a 1-3-1 conference ledger.

Mobile next plays Tuesday, October 9th at home versus William Carey University. The game will start at 7:00 pm.
