Lady Rams pick up big win in extra frames

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Lady Rams came from behind Saturday to take down 8th-ranked Covenant College 4-3.

Mobile found themselves trailing 3-0 1 minute into the second half when Covenant's Jenny Carter put home a top-shelf floater in the 46th minute. It took a while to respond, but the Lady Rams chipped away bit by bit.

Terri McCreadie got the Rams on the board in the 58th minute when she took a feed from Dernelle Mascall in the box and snuck the ball by the goalkeeper. 29 minutes later, Mascall came through and punched in a header to cut the lead to 1. The put back came after the goalkeeper knocked away Anastasia Prescott's attempted header.

The Lady Rams were back in the game, but the clock was their enemy with only 3 minutes left to play. When the clock went under a minute, things looked bleak until Anna Ellingsen sent a cross into the box. That's where Sunniva Haaland was waiting. Haaland's first shot was stopped, but the ball bounced back to her for the put-back with 30 seconds left in regulation.

The first overtime period saw no scoring, but Mobile wasted little time ending the match in the second overtime. McCreadie became the hero when she took the ball down the sideline and bent a shot across the front of the goal, just inside the far post for the incredible come-from-behind victory.

The Lady Rams move to 11-4 on the season with a road-match versus GCAC-foe Belhaven looming for Tuesday.
