Women's Soccer Shuts Out
Loyola 3-0
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The
University of Mobile women’s soccer team (7-9) ended the regular season on
a positive note after a 3-0 road victory against Loyola University Tuesday
night in New Orleans, La.
Mobile, which began the season
3-8, rebounded with four wins in their last five games to finish at 7-9.
The Rams now await an announcement to find out if they will play in next
week’s regional tournament.
Freshman Kelly Baltieri began
the scoring for the Rams in the 36th minute on a combo assist
from teammates Kirsten Turner and Jemma Connor. Turner started the play
by knocking a ball out to Connor on the left-wing. Connor then
immediately sent a pass into Baltieri who flicked a header past Loyola
goalkeeper Leila Manochehri for a 1-0 Ram advantage
In the second half, Rose
Clemensen netted her team-high 14th goal of the season on an
assist from senior Sarah Shaughnessy giving the Rams a 2-0 lead. Baltieri
then added her second goal of the match after a cross from Christalle
Phillips left her wide open in front of the goal.
The Ram defense pitched their
second shutout of the year and allowed just one Wolfpack shot on goal the
entire game.
