Women's Soccer All-Conference Team
HATTIESBURG, Miss—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the 2008 Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team, and the Lady Rams were well-represented.
Junior forward Terri McCreadie was tabbed Player of the Year, while sophomore Anna Maddox was named Defensive Player of the Year. McCreadie was the Lady Rams’ go-to scorer, with 10 goals in 18 games. She finished with 2 game-winning goals.
Maddox did not take over as goalkeeper until Sept. 23 against West Florida, but she made enough of an impact to pick up the honor. With her in goal, the Lady Rams allowed more than 1 goal only once and shutout the opponent five times. She allowed only 10 goals in 12 starts.
Those two award winners were the only Lady Rams on the first team, but Emma Murphy, Aislinn Finfrock, Danielle Byrd and Louise Arseneault were named Second Team All-Conference.
Murphy joined McCreadie up top as a forward and tallied 3 goals and 2 assists, while putting 18-of-23 shots on target. Finfrock helped make things go from her midfield position with 2 goals and 5 assists, including a 1 goal, 1 assist effort in the upset win over 13th-ranked William Carey.
Byrd and Arseneault both earned the nod as defenders, as the Lady Rams allowed only 14 goals in 18 games.
McCreadie is a three-time first-team All-Conference member. It’s the second straight year on the 1st-team for Maddox and second straight year on the 2nd-team for Arseneault. |
