Women’s Soccer Drops Game
to Nicholls State 1-0
MOBILE, Ala. – After battling Division I opponent
Nicholls State to a scoreless first half, the University of Mobile (2-2)
allowed a second-half goal by Emily Foertsch in the 66th minute
that proved to be the game winner.
With just over 24 minutes remaining in the contest,
Foertsch took control of a loose ball and riffled a shot that deflected
off the left post and found its way into the back of the net to give
Nicholl State the 1-0 win.
In the first half, Mobile out-shot the Colonels 6-5
but neither team was able to take advantage of their scoring
opportunities. Freshman, Jemma Conner, took all six shots for the Rams in
the first half, including a ball that was tipped by Nicholls State
goalkeeper, Lindsay Bartlett, just over the crossbar. Mobile goalkeeper,
Sara Cabaniss, made three first half saves, seven total, keeping the Rams
in the game.
Mobile, which lost to Nicholls State by a score of
5-1 last year, drops to 2-2 on the season and will next play against
Huntington College Tuesday, September 9, at Baldwin County High School at
7:00 p.m. Next, the Rams will travel to Tennessee for two games. The first game will be on Friday, September
12 at 4:00 p.m. against Lambuth University. The Rams will then travel to
McKenzie, TN to face Bethel College on Saturday, September 13 at 2:00
p.m.
