Women’s Soccer Falls to Spring Hill
2-1
MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill
College (4-3) avenged an earlier season loss to the Rams and ended a
two-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the University of Mobile,
(3-5) Tuesday night in the Jungle.
Erica Strachan headed in a pass
from teammate Rachel Hermann in the 35th minute breaking a 1-1
tie and giving the Badgers the victory.
Mobile jumped out to a quick
start scoring their quickest goal of the season just two minutes into the
contest. Freshman Rose Clemensen found teammate Kirsten Turner slipping
through the Spring Hill defense and bulleted a pass into the center of the
18-yard box where a sliding Turner flicked the ball past Spring Hill
goalkeeper Christine Arnesen for a 1-0 lead.
Not to be outdone, Spring Hill
answered less than two minutes later when Kristy Murphy netted her first
goal of the season. After controlling the ball outside the 18-yard box,
Murphy turned and fired a shot into the upper right corner of the goal
that snuck past Mobile goalkeeper Sara Cabaniss.
In the second half, the Badgers
continued their attack and never really allowed the Rams an opportunity to
tie the game. Arnesen made six saves on the night, five of which came in
the first half.
Mobile, which has lost three
straight games, will try to put an end to their losing streak when they
play host to Thomas University, Saturday, Sept. 27.
