The University of Mobile women’s tennis team improved to 8-4 on the season by defeating Millsaps College 7-2 on the road Saturday morning. The Lady Rams used doubles action to build a 2-1 lead and then finished off the match with a strong showing in singles play. Josy Soares/Claudia Borges won 8-0, Pam Boykin/Mayra Leal won 8-2, and Michelle Machen/Camilla Hovden fell 6-8. In singles play, the Lady Rams dropped the #4 match but cruised in everything else. Soares won 6-2, 6-0; Borges cruised 6-0, 6-0; Boykin rolled 6-3, 6-0; Machen fell 4-6, 2-6; Leal won again 6-0, 6-0; and Hovden won 8-2. The Lady Rams next play Wednesday, April 2nd at home versus Tuskegee at 2:00. |
