UM Tennis Breaks Top 25
MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Mobile women's tennis team has jumped into the NAIA Top 25 for the first time in 10 years. In the most recent polls, the Lady Rams were ranked #19.
In a school dominated by soccer and basketball, the UM tennis team has quietly gone 12-1, with their only loss coming from Nichols State, an NCAA Div. I program. The ladies have defeated two NCAA teams, University of Montevallo, a Div. II team, and Millsaps College, a Div. III program.
Led by head coach Uwe Tittl, the Lady Rams have had their best season since the program was put on hiatus for four years, 1998-2002. Since coach Tittl took over in 2003, the Lady Rams have gone 35-13. In 1994, the team earned their only national championship, but the Lady Rams look to end their 12 year drought this year. They will be competing in the GCAC Tournament held in Mobile, AL on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8.
