UM Tennis Wins Conference Championship MOBILE, Ala. -- Congratulations to the UM Women's Tennis team as they won their first conference championship in nearly ten years. The Rams took on Belhaven College in the finals winning 7-2. Duos Josy Soares/Minette Steyn and Megan Mohler/Maria Aguirre won doubles. In singles, Mobile dominated winning 5 of 6 match ups. Soares, Steyn, Mohler, Aguirre, and Tiffany Williams were all winners. After the match, the Rams took home numerous GCAC honors. In doubles, Josy Soares/Minette Steyn and Meghan Mohler/Maria Auirre received All-Conference honors. In singles, Soares, Steyn, Tiffany Williams, Mohler, and Aguirre were named All-Conference. Josy Soares was named GCAC Player of the Year and Minette Steyn received the Newcomer of the Year award. Head Coach Uwe Tittl received Coach of Year honors. The #19 Rams are now 16-3 and will compete in the regional tournament in two weeks. -30- |
