Women's Tennis Falls in 1st Round at Nationals
MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s tennis team fell in the 1st round of play at the 2007 NAIA National Women’s Tennis Tournament at the Mobile Tennis Center Monday afternoon.
The Savannah College of Arts & Design Lady Bees built up a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles competition and went on to a 8-1 victory over the now 11-6 Lady Rams.
In doubles play, Josey Soares and Pam Boykin fell 8-1, Camilla Hovden and Michelle Machen fell 8-2, and Maria Aguirre and Lindsey McDaniel fell 8-5.
In singles action, Soares picked up the only victory of the day for Mobile with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Aguirre fell 2-6, 1-6, Machen fell 2-6, 0-6, McDaniel fell 3-6, 3-6, Boykin fell 1-6, 1-6 and Hovden fell 5-7, 2-6.
This was the 14th trip to the NAIA National Tournament for the Lady Rams and the 3rd-straight bid under Head Coach Uwe Tittl.
