UM Women's Cross Country Begins
Competition
JACKSONVILLE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s cross
country team began a 2007 season Saturday that has been 3 years in the
making.
The University of Mobile was forced to cut the cross country programs
after 2003-04 season due to budgetary concerns, and the programs were
brought back for competition this season.
New Head Coach Holly Person got a late start recruiting runners and
knows this season is just 1 step in building the programs back where
they were in the past.
Even with tempered expectations, Person came away encouraged and pleased.
“I was very pleased with the effort and results of the young ladies,” Person
said. “This level of competition is new to them, but they went
out and performed well.”
As a team, the Lady Rams finished 5th out of 7 teams, beating out Alabama
A&M University and Fort Valley State University.
