UM Women Compete at Region XIII Meet

ROME, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's cross country team finished 10th at the Region XIII Championships in Rome, Georgia and Susanne Klungtveit finished 3rd overall to qualify for the NAIA National Championships.

The Lady Rams finished with a total time of 2:05:07.18 on the 5K course. Klungtveit posted an average mile of 6:22.2 on her way to the 3rd place time of 19:47.36. Jennifer McNellage finished 50th with a time of 22:53.91, Chelsea Filburn came in at 24:30.41, Melanie Smart hit 25:45.13, and Megan Harper rounded out the group with a time of 32:10.37.

Lee University won the meet with a time of 1:40:39.35 to earn a team bid to the National Championships. After the Lee University runners, the next 5 individual top finishers earn bids, and Klungtveit was 2nd on that list.

The meet also served as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championships, and Klungtveit took home the individual conference honors with her time.

As a team, the Lady Rams finished 4th in the standings, out of 5 teams.
