Davidson Product Signs With UM Cross Country Program

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile cross country program announced the signing of Davidson High School product Ryne Pulliam for the 2008-09 school year.

Pulliam helped his squad qualify for state this year and should bring a lot to the University of Mobile.

"With only three years of running experience, Ryne's potential as a runner has just been tapped," Davidson Coach Jonathon Bearden said. "With hard work and dedication, Ryne will make an excellent addition to the University of Mobile's cross country program."

Despite an ankle injury half way through the season, Pulliam helped Davidson to a second-place finish at the Sectional Meet and then went on to post a personal best at the State Meet. This season's success has him setting his goals high for the University of Mobile.

"I hope to bring a spot in the National Meet to the Rams," Pulliam said. "I'm looking to post good times and help the team grow and get more spotlight."

While cross country is fun and achievements are exciting, Pulliam knows that the opportunity to compete on the collegiate level also offers a chance to get a higher education.

"I chose the university because of the background in Christian Studies since I want to be a youth minister," Pulliam said. "I also saw a commitment between everyone and close relationships."

Pulliam also received an offer from the University of South Alabama.
