The University of Mobile women's soccer program announced the signing of six players for the 2010 season.

Rebekah Counce, Stefanie Weaver, Samantha Long, Madison Rumore, Jenny Dewitz and Melissa Maddox will join the Lady Rams for their inaugural season with the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Rebekah Counce is a defender from San Antonio, Texas who played club ball for the Classics Elite. Mobile Head Coach Brian Person will look for her to make a big impact immediately.

"We are looking for her to impact our defense and contribute significant minutes right away," Person said. "Her soccer background and the coaching she has received will allow her to be competitive at our level."

She is expected to play central defender or right back and her biggest asset will be her ability to win balls in the air.

Stefanie Weaver, a Madison, Miss. native, was a part of Madison Central HS team that won the State Tournament. She played defense in high school, but will likely fill several rolls for the Lady Rams.

"We look for her to come in and compete right away and expect her improvement to be drastic in the first year; getting more minutes as the season progresses," Person said. She is athletic and very coachable."

Samantha Long is a defender/forward from Dothan, Ala.

"Samantha should come in and be somebody that competes in training right away and earns minutes as the season progresses," Person said. "She brings a tremendous work ethic and a great attitude."

Madison Rumore is a Gilbert, Ariz. native that is expected to contribute for a starting spot. She is a transfer from Chandler-Gilbert Community College that can play as a wide defender or forward.

"We expect big things from Madison," Person said. "She is very athletic and above average technically. The biggest thing is her understanding of the game and her leadership abilities to help direct the back line."

Jenny Dewitz comes from Bonnie Lake, Wash. and is another player expected to compete for a starting spot, at either outside midfield or forward.

"Jenny is very athletic, good technically and will help with our ability to get services in from the width or score goals," Person said. "Her work rate and attitude are fantastic, and we look forward to having her competitive mentality in training every day."

Melissa Maddox is an Auburn, Ala. native and will join sisters Anna and Olivia, who are already on the UM women's soccer team.

"Her soccer background is limited, but she's a natural athlete and has an attitude and work ethic that are very contagious," Person said. "She'll impact our team right away on and off the field and brings a natural left foot."
