Meet our Faculty
B.M.E., Troy University In the year 2000 Dr. Breland was elected to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He traveled 3 million miles and recorded 60 albums with TRUTH. TRUTH presented 10,000 concerts in 26 nations in 31 years. He travels extensively throughout the United States and internationally as a workshop clinician and speaker. His Excellence on the Platform topic is in great demand. Many of his former TRUTH members are successful leaders in Christian music. Kim Noblitt, Russ Lee, Alicia, Avalon, 4HIM, Jason Breland, Anthony Evans are examples of his influence. In May of 2003 Dr. Breland became the Director of the Center for Performing Arts at the University of Mobile. Dr. Breland is the author of the book, IN SEARCH OF A LOVELY MOMENT. rogerbreland@aol.com

B.M.E., University of Southern Mississippi Representative Randy Davis was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in November, 2002. He received his B.M.Ed and M.M.Ed from the University of Southern Mississippi and Ed/Sp from Alabama State University. He has served as teacher/administrator and executive to the superintendent of the Mobile County Public Schools and as Public Relations Coordinator for the Baldwin County Public Schools before retiring in 2004. He has served on the Mobile Arts Council, Boys & Girls Club Board, Bounds YMCA Board, United States Sports Academy Board, and the Board for the Daphne/Spanish Fort Rotary. Representative Davis was also a member of the Mobile Arts Council, Mobile Opera, Mobile Symphony, and Daphne High School PTSA. He currently is Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Mobile. He is resident conductor for the Baldwin County Pops Band and started the North Mobile Community Symphony in 2006. rdavis@mail.umobile.edu

B.M., Loyola University Baritone Patrick Jacobs’ voice has been described as “a major one in the making.” In 2000, he made his European operatic debut with the Opera Theatre of Lucca, Italy. He has performed operatic roles with opera companies throughout the United States, including the New Orleans Opera, Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, Light Opera Oklahoma, and Bronx Opera. During 2003-04, he was a resident artist with the Pensacola Opera while also performing in Louisiana, Connecticut and New York. pjacobs@mail.umobile.edu
B.M., University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Dr. Miller’s classical and contemporary music training and practical experience bring an eclectic approach to music education at the Center for Performing Arts at the University of Mobile. He founded and directed vocal groups in churches, high schools, colleges, universities and in the professional field for the past 35 years. The groups with which he has performed and those he founded/directed have presented concerts throughout the Far East, Europe, the Caribbean and the United States of America including several White House appearances. He received several 2003 awards from the National Religious Broadcasters convention in music, video, and audio production. B.A.E., University of Mississippi “You practically have to inherit a ticket if you want to see the Upper Room Dessert Theatre!” That’s one comment overheard in the audience at the always-packed-out performances of Mobile’s only dessert theatre, housed in Martin Hall. B.M.E., University of Southern Mississippi Dr. Myrick is an educator and an accomplished musician. He is the former superintendent of schools in Choctaw County, Alabama. He is a well known violinist in several Gulf Coast symphony orchestras. His responsibilities at the University of Mobile lie in the area of education and the University of Mobile String Ensemble, "Vintage".
B.M., Florida State University An outstanding, all-around musician, Mr. Plash has vast experience as a pianist, organist, composer, and director of handbell choirs and ensembles. Over 100 of his handbell arrangements and compositions have been published, as well as choral compositions. Mr. Plash specializes in theory, teaching sophomore and junior levels at the university and maintaining a studio of applied piano undergraduates.
B.S., Houston Baptist University Pete Sanchez, Jr. is the Director of Worship Studies for the Integrity Worship Institute. He also serves as conference pastor and teacher for Integrity Media's Seminars4Worship regional conferences. A native Houstonian, Pete has enjoyed more than 30 years of local, national, and international ministry experience, including the privilege of serving 4 Houston churches as youth minister, music director, worship leader, associate and senior pastor. He has served as an adjunct professor for the Houston campus of SWBTS, the University of Mobile, Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), and the King's College and Seminary (Van Nuys, CA). In addition to his music compositions and worship leading skills, Pete is more recently recognized for his passionate but biblically informed teaching concerning contemporary congregational worship. As the author of the internationally recognized song I Exalt Thee, he was privileged to be the worship leader for the Integrity Hosanna! Music project by the same title. He is President of Gabriel Music Inc., a copyright administration company located in Houston, TX, and founder of WorshipCentral, a "worship workshop" and weekend teaching ministry designed to help musicians recover what it means to be both "theologian-artists" and servants of the local church.
B.M., William Carey University Native New Yorker, Allanda Small is a versatile and passionate performer who has performed lead and supporting roles in the operas, The Tender Land, Le Nozze di Figaro, and Susannah. She is a past winner of the William T. Gower scholarship competition, Metropolitan Opera National Council Regional Auditions (New Orleans District), and the Governor’s Award at the Mississippi division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. In 2005, she toured Spain with Triumph Chorale as a soloist and chorale member. Allanda was named the state winner in the NATSAA Young Artist Competition and placed first in the NATS Regional Competition. Recent stage credits include the role of Micaela in Carmen with the Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company, Leonora in Il Trovatore, Suzel in L'Amico Fritz, and Madame Pompous in Too Many Sopranos all for the Southern Vocal Arts Society's Opera Scene Program.In August 2007, Allanda received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi. asmall@mail.umobile.edu
B.A., Central Washington University Don Wolf is the director of RamCorps. This elite drum and bugle corps style ensemble has thrilled audiences throughout the south. Mr. Wolf directs and arranges for the UM Jazz Band. He has been a featured clinician for high school and junior high bands in his home state of Washington, as well as a minister of music in Florida and Washington. Mr. Wolf has much experience in the field of recordings as an artist (Trombone) and as a musical arranger and producer. dwolf@mail.umobile.edu

University of South Alabama Praised as" A great musician" by Classical Guitar Virtuoso Benjamin Verdery, award winning Classical After winning 1st place at the Pine Belt Guitar Competition against 14 other guitarists, a competition judged by world renowned Classical Guitarist and composer Jorge Morel, Mr.Habib has dedicated himself as teacher and performer, teaching applied guitar and guitar ensemble. He has taught at U.M. for over nine years. His unique approach to guitar instruction incorporates his roots in progressive rock and jazz with his extensive training in Classical Guitar.
