In addition to academic merit awards, UM also offers a variety of leadership and talent-based scholarships. Our enrollment counselors can help guide you in applying for a variety of grants, loans and work-study programs that can help lower your out-of-pocket college payment.
Presidential Scholarship Award
- $5,000 per year
- $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus
- Based on academic achievement (see scholarship calculator)
Founder’s Scholarship Award
- $4,000 per year
- $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus
- Based on academic achievement (see scholarship calculator)
Dean’s Scholarship Award
- $3,500 per year
- $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus
- Based on academic achievement (see scholarship calculator)
University Scholarship Award
- $2,000 per year
- Additional $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus
- Based on academic achievement (see scholarship calculator)
Church Ministry and Service Grant

Designed to assist persons preparing for careers as full-time vocational staff members, which traditionally includes: pastor, minister of music, minister of education, minister of youth, or missionary church planter
- Up to $3000.00 per year for up to 8 semesters
- Additional $1000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus.
- Annual renewal process required
Center for Performing Arts Scholarships
A. Earl Potts through Alabama Baptist State Convention

Minister’s Dependant Grants

Legal dependants of ordained Southern Baptist ministers employed by a Southern Baptist Church or Southern Baptist organization are eligible for a half-tuition scholarship.

Legal dependants of ordained ministers of a New Testament church outside the Southern Baptist denomination are eligible for a $1000 per year grant in addition to other academic merit scholarships
