Who was Chora Godwin?
In the late 1980s, Assistant Professor of English Chora Godwin offered to tutor some of her students, but so many showed up that she could not tutor them all. She bought two round tables, acquired a small classroom, “borrowed” four part-time student workers from the English and math departments, and the Learning and Writing Center was born. She was involved with the Center until her death in 2004.
