IRIS ANDERSON has decided that retirement is not for her and has taken the position of church organist at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile. She also serves our Alumni Association as the Vice Chairman for Membership. Her husband, Billy, retired from the US Customs with 44 years of service and is enjoying his time, fishing. Iris has 4 daughters: Wanda Pridgen, Iris Wilner, Sandra Anderson, and Amee Anderson. She and Billy are also celebrating the birth of their first great-grandchild, Skyler Elizabeth Rinehart. THOMAS B. HOLMES lives in Montgomery, AL. He and wife Rachael have one son, Thomas B. Holmes II. Tom retired in July, 2001 after 30+ years of public service with the State of Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the Office of Governor Fob James (1980-83 & 1995-96). He now serves as chief advocate for over 120,000 Alabama children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities and their families, as the Executive Director of The Arc of Alabama, Inc. Tom has also been involved in the following organizations since leaving Mobile College: Member, National Eagle Scout Association; Member, MONTALA Civitan Club; Member, Tukabatchee Area Council (Boy Scouts) Executuve Board; Member & former Chair, AL Council for Developmental Disabilities; Member, Board of Directors, AL Higher Education Loan Corporation; Member & former President, Central AL & Montgomery Area Chapters, American Society for Public Administration; first and third Presidents, Mobile College Alumni Association. GEORGE VOGTNER is the proud father of two adult daughters who are also UM graduates: Marie (1997), who took her master's at USM and teaches at McGill-Toolen; and Jean (2000), who works with George at Northrop Grumman Ingalls shipyard as a Subcontracts Administrator. George's career in shipbuilding has now spanned thirty years, and he is looking forward soon to life in a different key, returning to academia, teaching, traveling, and writing. |
