The Athletic Training Student Society (ATSS) is an organization geared towards the enhancement of opportunities for learning outside the classroom, designed to prepare students for successful completion of CAAHEP competencies and NATABOC certification. The ATSS is considered a service-oriented organization working with local health care professionals to provide quality athletic training services for athletes, while also offering an opportunity for social interactions with other students as other faculty and staff members within the program.

Membership shall not be denied based on an individual's sex, race, or religious beliefs. It is an organization open to all UM pre-athletic and athletic training students, faculty and staff. Weekly meeting are set up in order to discuss selected topics from class and provide an opportunity for practical and critical thinking skills to be utilized outside the classroom. Lectures are also present at monthly meetings the first of the month to discuss topics such as electronic portfolios, EMT procedures, orthopaedics evaluations, and employment opportunities.

Officers are elected at the last meeting of the year and serve a one year term. Positions include president, vice-president, secretary, and two media representatives. The president and vice-president are responsible for overseeing all meetings, organizing lecture series, and implementing fundraising ideas. The secretary manages attendance and minutes from each meeting, while media representatives help develop ACI newsletters sent out once a month to promote the UM Athletic Training Program.
