Collegiate Music Educators
National Conference (CMENC)
The Collegiate Music Educators National Conference
(CMENC) is an organization for students who are interested in
teaching music. Whether you intend to teach at the elementary,
high school, or collegiate level, or if you just enjoy being
involved in music, CMENC can be of great value to you. Monthly
meetings are held to inform members of new ideas and techniques,
and to discuss ideas for reaching the community. Also, guest
speakers are often brought in to give valuable insight to things
that are not learned in the classroom.
Each spring
a state conference is held to bring music educators together
from all over the state of Alabama. Later in the year,
there is also a national conference.
At these conventions, sessions are held on topics ranging from teaching children
with disabilities, to making the most of your time in the classroom, to fun
activities for children’s choirs. This is also a great time
to meet other students and educators from around the state
and the nation who are interested in learning more about
music and increasing their knowledge for reaching children in a whole new way.
