The University of Mobile's Reading Council is a part of the Alabama Reading Association and International Reading Association which are professional associations for reading educators. Reading Council is a way to network with other reading teachers across the world.

We prepare, in conjunction with SLATE, bags of supplies for student teachers to take into their classrooms, and we hold a book drive every semester, so we can distribute new and gently used books to local elementary schools. In addition, we bring several guest speakers from outside the University to discuss reading related issues.
