MBA Student Wins Megginson Award Chad Lawrence of Monroeville, Ala., was recently presented
the first "Leon
C. Megginson Best Paper Award" by the University of Mobile’s
School of Business faculty. Lawrence is a student in UM’s master
in business administration program. During their final term, MBA students
are required to prepare a comprehensive case analysis of an existing
company. This analysis utilizes all info learned in the MBA program to
analyze a company, determine its internal strengths and weaknesses and
external opportunities and threats. Graduate students devise strategic
recommendations for the company for the future. Lawrence’s analysis
of Callaway Golf was deemed to be the finest of the group by UM faculty.Lawrence,
who is employed as the manager of fabric development at Vanity Fair,
will complete his master’s in business administration degree in
May 2004. The award is named in honor of Leon C. Megginson who founded
UM's MBA program and served as dean until 1995. Lawrence is pictured
