UM Grad Begins Career Back at School
As the new assistant director of public relations, Brito coordinates and writes press releases and feature stories for UM and serves as a copywriter and photographer for university publications. Brito graduated summa cum laude from UM where she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta international English honor society and Alpha Chi national college honor society. She worked in the UM Learning Center as an English tutor and also in the library assisting students in research. She graduated from Old Spanish Fort School in 2001 and is the daughter of Javier and Susan Brito of Daphne. Brito said that the knowledge she had gained as an English major and art minor combined to create a blend of skills ideal for the duties of the job. She was highly recommended by her former professors. "We are excited about the addition of Annie to our public relations team," said Kathy Dean, director of public relations at UM. "She is an outstanding writer and, as a recent graduate, has a depth of knowledge and passion for the University of Mobile that will be an asset." “I wanted to get involved in the process of informing the public about the great events going on at UM and the people that make them happen,” Brito said. The University of Mobile is a Baptist-affiliated university located in Mobile, Ala. Over 1,800 students are enrolled in associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Leadership Development and School of Nursing. “I love UM,” Brito added, “It’s a great school: it has excellent academic programs, lots of activities and a fantastic atmosphere.” |
