Capone Takes
Post as Part-Time
The communication major has a concentration in public relations and advertising and a minor in marketing. She is president of the Public Relations Student Society at UM, which allows students to gain real-world experience in public relations and other related fields by working on projects and attending meetings with public relations professionals. Capone graduated from Davidson High School in 2004. She is the daughter of Michael and Dr. Jane Capone of Mobile. Capone said that the experience she has gained through her communication classes and her involvement in PRSS has helped her prepare for the job. Her love for writing is an asset as well. “I enjoy the thrill of having a blank sheet of paper in front of me and creating a story to be published,” said Capone. “Rebecca is a great addition to our public relations team,” noted Kathy Dean, director of public relations at the University of Mobile. “She is a talented writer, is eager to learn more, and has an outstanding work ethic.” “I enjoy being a public relations writer for UM because I am passionate about the school as a student. Also, being a writer has given me the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience for my career,” said Capone. The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Over 1,800 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Leadership Development and School of Nursing.
