UM IN ‘AMERICA’S BEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGES’ 9th CONSECUTIVE YEAR

The University of Mobile is one of 157 colleges and universities nationwide recognized as “America’s Best Christian Colleges.”

Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc. selected the schools from a pool of 429 Christian institutions based on which provide the highest educational quality in a Christian environment, according to Lewis T. Lindsey Jr., president of IR&E Inc.

The independent research and consulting organization, which specializes in the recruiting and retention of students for institutes of higher education, compiled the annual listing based on analysis and review of its 15th Annual National College Survey.

The University of Mobile has been included in this national recognition program for nine consecutive years. The Baptist-affiliated university was founded in 1961 and offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees through the College of Arts and Sciences and schools of business, Christian studies, education, leadership development and nursing.

To be considered for the list an institution must be an accredited, four-year school that offers bachelor’s degrees and full residential facilities and dining services. It must have had an entering freshman class in Fall 2004 with a high school grade point average or SAT/ACT score at or above the national average for all freshmen entering Christian institutions of higher education. It must be affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination or be an interdenominational institution that incorporates Christian principles into its curriculum or environment.

Other Alabama schools chosen for the honor were Birmingham-Southern College, Huntingdon College, Judson College, Samford University and Spring Hill College.
