UM Students Perform
in The SOUNDS of Mobile is a contemporary show choir now in its second season at the University of Mobile. The group, directed by Dr. Al Miller, is an eight-voice choir that performs pop, broadway, jazz, ’50s and sacred selections. This past season, SOUNDS performed on the cruise ship “Astoria.” Members of the group toured throughout Greece and Italy. This year, SOUNDS will perform in many University of Mobile events including the UM Christmas Spectacular on Nov. 29 at Dauphin Way Baptist Church, and Starlight in May 2006, as well as in churches and at civic events. SOUNDS will take a second cruise, departing for Venice, Italy in March 2006 during which they will entertain on the cruise ship at night and trace the steps of the Apostle Paul during the day. Members of SOUNDS this season are Scarlette O’Hara, Heather Szymanski, Nicky Phillips, Rebecca Metts, Bethany Arndt, Jordan Squires, Luke Veazey, Brad Forehand and Chase Byrd. The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Over 1,800 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Leadership Development and School of Nursing.
