UM Prof Named Alabama Humanities Foundation 'Road Scholar'

Dr. Robert Schaefer, chair of the University of Mobile Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, will serve as a member of the Alabama Humanities Foundation speakers bureau during 2007 and 2008.

The professor of political science is among 40 university and independent scholars who will serve as “Road Scholars” for the Foundation, presenting programs throughout the state on a variety of topics.

Schaefer will present lectures on “Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the Transformation of the American Union.” In addition to presenting the lecture to a variety of community and student groups throughout Alabama, Schaefer will present a workshop for high school teachers through the SUPER Teacher Institute, the Foundation’s teacher development program. The SUPER workshop will be held in Birmingham, Ala., during February.
