University of Mobile Quartets Place In Competitions The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts’ three barbershop-style quartets—RamBunctious, Ramalettes and RamTonz— all placed at competitions in March. RamBunctious placed first and Ramalettes placed fourth out of nine groups in the Rising Stars of the South Quartet Competition, the Barbershop Quartet Contest for Young Women on March 27 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The competition was sponsored by the Region No. 23 Heart of Dixie Sweet Adelines International. RamBunctious will compete in the 2008 International Education Symposium in San Antonio, Texas, July 16 through 19.
Members of RamBunctious are Lydia Bru, tenor; Maggie Woodlief, lead; Nikki Ellis, bass; and Kourtney Campbell, baritone.
Members of Ramalettes are Kalyn Pilcher, tenor; Jenna Housh, lead; Bethany Case, bass; and Catherine Odom, baritone. RamTonz placed second in the Barbershop Harmony Society at the International Quartet Preliminaries and District Chorus Convention as part of the Dixie District during the College Quartet Finals and International Collegiate Preliminaries on March 14 in Greenville, S.C.
Members of RamTonz are Luke Veazey, tenor; Andrew Lowe, lead; Scotty Lawrence, bass; and James Berrian, baritone.
