Tickets Available for University of Mobile Scholarship Banquet with Zell Miller

The second annual University of Mobile Scholarship Banquet is just a few weeks away, and tickets are available for the event featuring a keynote address by former U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, according to Marty Vignes, vice president for development at UM.

“Last year more than 700 people from throughout south Alabama enjoyed our first scholarship banquet and helped us net $146,000 for scholarships. This year we are planning another gala evening, complete with a nationally known speaker, outstanding performances by students in our Center for Performing Arts, and a few surprises,” Vignes said.

The scholarship banquet will be held Thursday, Sept. 28 at the Mobile Convention Center. Individual tickets are $150. Sponsorships range from $1,000 to $20,000 for tables of eight, with various benefits for different sponsorship levels. Zell Miller, former U.S. senator and Georgia governor, is a Democratic supporter of President George W. Bush and the only person ever to have been the keynote speaker in both the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
