University of Mobile Upper Room Dinner Theatre Announces 2007-2008 Season

The University of Mobile Upper Room Dinner Theatre will present “Steel Magnolias,” “Godspell,” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie” during its 2007-2008 season.

The Upper Room Dinner Theatre’s cast is comprised of talented University of Mobile students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members. It was established in 1991 and students perform in a black box thrust theatre located in Martin Hall on the UM campus.

Limited season tickets and individual tickets are available. Season tickets are $90 each, which include dinner, dessert, show and tip. Dessert show season tickets are $54 each. Individual tickets for each show are $30 for dinner and $18 for dessert. Dinner shows begin at 6:30 p.m. and dessert shows begin at 2 p.m. Call Marion Jackson at (251)442-2383 for more information about URDT or to purchase tickets.

Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling, is a touching and funny play set in a beauty salon in Louisiana. Dinner shows are Aug. 30 and 31, Sept. 1, 6, 7 and 8. Dessert shows are Sept. 1 and 8.

Godspell, book by Michael Tebelak, is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and features a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz. Dinner shows are Nov. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10. Dessert shows are Nov. 3 and 10.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, book by Richard Henry Morris, music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Dick Scanlan, is a high-spirited 1920s musical set in New York City. Dinner shows are Feb. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and March 1. Dessert shows are Feb. 23 and March 1.
