University of Mobile Students Travel to Italy University of Mobile students will take a trip of their lifetime during their Spring break on the UM Honors Program Italy tour. Assistant Professor of English and Honors Program Director Dr. Douglas Mitchell will lead the 17 UM students as they travel to Venice, Florence, and Rome on Feb. 29-March 9. Some highlights of the trip include a gondola ride in Venice, seeing Michelangelo’s “David” in Florence, and visiting the “Eternal City” of Rome. Those not attending the trip, which was open to all UM students, can follow four of the participants by reading their blogs at www.umobile.edu/italy08. The students will frequently write and post pictures while in Italy. The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Nearly 1,600 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Nursing, Center for Performing Arts and Center for Adult Programs.
