UM Profs Deliver Papers, Present Research, Show Art
University of Mobile faculty are presenting research, serving as leaders in professional organizations, and exhibiting artwork.

Dr. Lonnie Burnett, associate professor of history, spoke as part of a panel on "Alabamians and the Civil War" during Auburn University-Montgomery's Liberal Arts Conference Feb. 19-20. His topic was "Alabama's Adopted Confederate: The Propaganda Mission of Henry Hotze."
Also, Burnett is program chair for the Alabama Historical Association Annual Meeting which will be held April 23-25 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. |

Pamela Buchanan, dean of the Center for Adult Programs, presented a research paper on "Effects of analogy-enhanced grammar instruction on performance and motivation in college students" at the University of South Alabama's College of Education Founders Day Educational Research Conference Feb. 2. |

Dr. Ted Mashburn, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, presented a paper entitled “Building Bridges and Crossing Barriers” at the international conference “Alliance of Civilizations: Turkey at the Crossroads of Culture” on Jan. 29-31 at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

Phillip Counselman, assistant professor of art, had several charcoal and pencil drawings featured in the “Drawing of Alabama” art exhibit in Biggin Hall Gallery at Auburn University Feb. 19. The exhibit will travel to Mobile on March 13 and will be displayed until May 3 at Space 301, Contemporary Art Space, at 6 South Joachim St. in downtown Mobile. |
