UM Announces Homecoming 2005 Plans The University of Mobile invites alumni and parents to join current students for an ’80s-themed Homecoming and Parents Weekend on Oct. 7-8. The event will honor graduated classes from 1980-1989. Events will begin on Friday, Oct. 7, with a campus-wide lunch and chapel at 11 a.m. A family-friendly “Fall Fest” from 6-11 p.m. Friday will include carnival games, prizes, inflatable games and much more. On Saturday, Oct. 8, activities will begin at 9:15 a.m. with alumni choir rehearsal in Weaver Auditorium. Activities throughout the day will include a reunion and alumni meeting and a Parent-to-Parent session. Students and parents will participate in Dorm Warz, a competition between students in UM’s residence halls, beginning at 11 a.m. On Saturday at 3 p.m. alumni and parents will attend their choice of four different break out sessions including scrapbooking, an alumni soccer game, women’s collegiate volleyball or a roundtable discussion on “The Alabama Constitution: 100 Years of Controversy” with Dr. Robert Schaefer, professor of political science. Men’s varsity soccer games will be held Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on the soccer field. The homecoming court will be presented at the halftime of the Saturday evening game.
