University of Mobile Student Competes to Sing National Anthem at Senior Bowl
The winner of the contest will perform the national anthem on national television and in front of approximately 40,000 fans during the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl pre-game show on Jan. 26 at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile. Odom’s supporters can help her win the contest by voting for her on the Senior Bowl website at www.seniorbowl.com or the WKRG-TV website at www.wkrg.com beginning Friday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. through Sunday, Jan. 13 at 11:59 p.m. Odom will perform the national anthem and another song live on the WKRG-TV Morning Show at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, according to the news station’s website. The other two finalists will perform on separate days. All three finalists will perform the national anthem live again during the WKRG-TV Morning Show on Friday, Jan. 11. Odom is no stranger to the stage. As part of the University of Mobile Center of Performing Arts ensemble SOUNDS of Mobile, she has performed before thousands in the highly energetic 12-voice song and dance ensemble. She is also a part of UM’s University Singers, Opera Workshop, Upper Room Dinner Theatre, and Ramalettes, a barbershop-style quartet. Odom, the daughter of Frankie and Cathy Odom of St. Stephens, is a sophomore majoring in music education with a concentration in voice.
