Music of Romania at University of Mobile

The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts will present “Music of Romania,” a recital and lecture featuring Romanian music of the 20th century, on Sunday, Jan. 11. The free program will begin at 3 p.m. in Moorer Auditorium on the University of Mobile campus.

The recital will be presented again on Monday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Montevallo’s LeBaron Recital Hall.

The program will include songs, arias, duets and piano solo by Romanian composers. The event will feature Romanian soprano Dr. Mihaela Buhaiciuc, assistant professor of music at the University of Mobile, and baritone Charles Wood, assistant professor of music at the University of Montevallo and a scholar of the Romanian composer Nicolae Bretan. They will be accompanied by Romanian pianist Aida Marc, who will also perform Toccata from Suite op. 10 in D major by George Enescu.

“Our endeavor is to introduce the audience to different sonorities, language and culture,” Buhaiciuc said.
