College Preview Day for Students Interested in Healthcare, Math Majors

The University of Mobile is inviting high school seniors interested in majoring in healthcare professions or mathematics to attend a special preview day to learn about opportunities to study at the Christian university.

The Career Day for Healthcare Professions and Math Majors will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at the campus of the 1,641-student university. Students who attend the preview day and enroll may be eligible for a $2,000 visit scholarship, in addition to other financial aid.

The event is specifically designed for students interested in majoring in nursing, athletic training and mathematics. It includes a brunch with university president Dr. Mark Foley, information sessions about admission requirements and financial aid, and campus tour. Parents are encouraged to attend the event, which begins at 8:45 a.m.

Students interested in the School of Nursing will learn about the university’s Early Decision Program which includes early acceptance to the School of Nursing. The program offers the opportunity to participate in clinical observations at area hospitals as early as the freshmen and sophomore years. Prospective nursing students will tour the dedicated lab at Springhill Medical Center and attend a panel discussion with nursing faculty and current students.

A degree planning session will be held for students interested in majoring in athletic training. The school’s Athletic Training Education program is under the direction of Dr. William Carroll who established protocols for drug testing at the Olympic games in Beijing.

Students interested in majoring in mathematics will meet with faculty and current students. Prospective students will learn about the university’s program and the many career opportunities in education, engineering and more which are available to students who graduate with a degree in math.
