University of Mobile Concert features ‘American Sound’
The event will take place Friday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Moorer Auditorium in Martin Hall at the University of Mobile. Admission is free. For more information, call (251) 442-2897. Small is a versatile and passionate performer who has performed lead and supporting roles in the operas “The Tender Land,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” and “Susannah.”She is a past winner of the William T. Gower scholarship competition, Metropolitan Opera National Council Regional Auditions (New Orleans District), and the Governor’s Award at the Mississippi division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. In 2005, she toured Spain with Triumph Chorale as a soloist and chorale member. Small was named a state winner in the NATSAA Young Artist Competition and placed first in the NATS Regional Competition. Recent stage credits include the role of Micaela in “Carmen” with the Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company, Leonora in “Il Trovatore,” Suzel in “L'Amico Fritz,”and Madame Pompous in “Too Many Sopranos,” all for the Southern Vocal Arts Society's Opera Scene Program.
